Wick Groats beat John O' Groats tonight to retain the DA Shield. The game finished 2-2 and went to penalty kicks and Groats won the shoot-out. Graham Macnab grabbed a brace scoring in 90 miutes to equalise and in extra time to put Groats 2-1 infront, although Grant Budge scored a screamer of a free kick to send the game to penalties. The score after 5 pens was 4-4 with player manager Stewart Ross hitting the post; but luckily for him JOG's 5th taker pulled his effort wide. Beezer stepped up in sudden death to put Groats 5-4 infront and Willie Ross had the mis-fortune of blazing over to hand the Shield to Wick Groats. ( Full match report in Cup Fixtures/Reports) |
